2. Design Development: Duchess Designs coordinates the wish list with creative designs and presents design concepts based on feedback, budget, and research. At this meeting or in a series of meetings and email correspondence, garden room possibilities are identified, priorities established for implementation, initial design concepts are noted and rendered visually to suggest building materials, color, and plant material.

Following client approval, Duchess Designs uses a client's site survey and/or measures the site. Duchess Designs produces a layout and Plant Listings based on design and availability. Designs are selected that add value to the home and complement a client's lifestyle. Many garden design clients work from an overall landscape design plan, then implement and execute based on lifestyle and budget. Some clients choose to install a garden room or series of garden rooms from an agreed-on annual schedule.

Questions are posed that help define the look of the garden art with practical features such as "Will I be here only in the evenings?" "Do I do much entertaining?" "How do I get to the backyard?" "Where will the children's basketball court go?" and "How do I hide the air conditioner or the trash area?"
